About EDIC

Research into eating disorders is vital to knowledge and understanding. Beat has a long history of supporting and advancing research in the field of eating disorders. Our academic journal, the European Eating Disorders Review, began in 1991 and has published some of the most important developments in the treatment and understanding of eating disorders.

The first Eating Disorders International Conference opened in 2010 as a natural extension of Beat’s research-focused agenda. The conference was an opportunity for delegates to exchange knowledge, share clinical experiences and discuss advances in treatment and support. The event has been held biennially since then, and has now grown to become one of the foremost events in the field of eating disorders.

The fourth conference, held in London in 2016, continued to catalyse important developments in the field of eating disorders.  Our Scientific Programme Committee was chaired by Paul Robinson who was joined by world leaders in the eating disorder field, including Beat Chief Medical Adviser Professor Janet Treasure OBE.

As well as catering to psychiatrists, general practitioners, psychologists, clinicians, researchers and allied health professionals, the conference has a strong tradition of involving carers in conversation and discourse. The programme for Saturday usually has a particular carers’ focus. EDIC has sparked a wealth of meaningful dialogue between these individuals, and continues to be a strong link between the medical community and all those affected by eating disorders.

We hope you can join us in March 2018.
